Change Your MINI’s Personality on Cue
Your MINI is equipped with a drive mode selector that can change the throttle response, steering feel, and even adjust the dampers of your MINI, to best meet your current needs. Late model MINI vehicles have their trade mode selector located at the base of the gear shift. This drive mode selector is a switch that you can toggle left and right to change drive modes.
On older model MINI, this drive mode selector is located near the Start/Stop switch in the center stack.
Green Mode
Green mode works to minimize fuel consumption by buffering throttle response, modulating climate control, and disconnecting the transmission from the flywheel when you let off the gas. This allows the engine to idle as you coast toward traffic lights and coast down grades – further saving fuel. In addition, this drive mode offers interactive help that promotes greener driving habits.
Mid Mode
This is the driving mode that your mini will default to upon every startup. Mid mode offers an everyday balance between performance and efficiency.
Sport Mode
Sport mode enhances throttle response, and can even tighten the steering wheel resistance for a more in-tune connection with the road. In MINI John Cooper Works models fitted with adaptive damping, suspension damping is tightened for faster response times and a more thrilling experience.
Snow Mode
If you drive a model like the MINI Countryman, or perhaps the MINI Clubman, your vehicle may be equipped with the ALL4 all-wheel drive system – unlocking Snow Mode. Snow Mode makes adjustments to traction control that allows for more wheelspin, so you can dig your way through deep snow and power through inclement weather.
